Climate Conference

In 2012 InterClimate Network (ICN) partnered with The Centre for Environmental Education and Ethics (SEVER), the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (CEPF), Foundation of Active Places and People (MiLA), Global Dimension Trust (GDT), and Gimnasium no 1 in Myślenice, Poland in order to run 15 Climate Conferences for young people across Czech Republic, Poland and the United Kingdom.
The Conferences coincided with the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP18) UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which took place in Doha, Qatar (26th Nov. – 7th Dec. 2012). 2012 was a crucial time as the first Kyoto Protocol ran out and intensive global negotiations took place to agree new targets.

In total 930 young people aged from 13 to 19 years old met to debate and negotiate a second period of the Kyoto Protocol. Check out the photos and feedback from the event in our Blurb book:


High Wycombe: 29th November at Wycombe District Chambers from 12.30 – 3.30pm. We were supported by Wycombe District Council to deliver this conference.

Reading: 3rd December, at Reading Council Chambers - two Conferences were run and we were supported by  Reading Borough Council.

South Gloucestershire and Bristol: 4th December 2012, at Kingswood Civic Centre from 12.30– 3.30pm. We worked with Global Dimension Trust and were supported by South Gloucestershire Council and Rotary to deliver this conference.

Cheltenham: 5th December, at Cheltenham Council Chambers from 12.30– 3.30pm. We worked with Global Dimension Trust to run this conference. The Cheltenham Conference was sponsored by the Summerfield Trust  and local Rotary clubs.
