After a highly successful conference last year [see here] we are delighted to return to Solihull’s council chamber for a climate conference open to secondary schools across the city.

Attendance is free for all participating schools.

There is formal seating for a maximum of 16 teams of 4-5 students per country ‘delegation’. Extra students are welcome to swap in or to be official observers.

Schools can request up to 2 teams (max 10 students) but we will confirm allocations once all bookings have been received.

Part 1: Enacting global negotiations

As world leaders gather for COP31 in Antalya, TĂźrkiye, 60+ young people from across Solihull will step into the role of international delegates, taking on the parts of 16 countries at the United Nations talks.

Through debate, collaboration and diplomacy, students will be immersed in global progress towards nations’ actual carbon reduction targets before trying to agree more ambitious climate action by 2030. 

Part 2: Local progress, pathways and practical action

In part two, students will have the opportunity to amplify their voices and see how to turn ideas into local climate action, through a:

  • Climate Question Time as a chance for young people’s questions on climate action and green skills to go directly to local decision-makers and business
  • Climate Action Showcase where local schools and colleges present their work and answer questions about developing skills.
