7 December 09:30 to 12:45

InterClimate Network is delighted to be working again with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to bring the critical climate debate to life. This year, we are excited to be able to recognise and showcase schools’ climate actions. Book your place asap (email below) and tell us:

  • How many student places your school requires
  • Your request to showcase your own climate action (see Part 2 below).

1. Conference outline

Secondary schools across Solihull are invited to participate in this conference in the impressive Council Chambers, Solihull Civic Suite. It includes a live Q&A for students to put their questions to a Solihull decision-maker.

There is formal seating in the chambers for a maximum of 16 teams of 4 students per country ‘delegation’. Please let us know the number of teams and if additional students want to attend (swapping in, if they want) as there is plenty of viewing room. Students are welcome to stay after to eat their own lunches.

Part 1 Global Negotiations

Teams of students from 8-10 local schools will represent up to 16 nations as though they were at COP28 (30 Nov – 12 Dec). They will debate progress towards pledged carbon reduction targets and try to agree more ambitious climate action.

ICN provides briefings for COP28 and students’ main task in advance is to write a short opening statement. Conference methodologies facilitate many key life-skills from public- speaking and collaboration to joint decision-making.

Part 2 Climate Action

After hearing about national / local initiatives, students will be by a live Q&A with a Solihull decision-maker.
